Sengoku BASARA 4 New Characters and features.

With fans of the game series clamoring for more details, Capcom has announced more characters for the Sengoku BASARA 4 line up and a new trailer.

The game which was announced at Capcom's "Sengoku BASARA matsuri 2013 spring" has grabbed the attention of the series's fans. Previously three new characters to the series have been announced. In the latest update, Capcom announced one more new character and some familiar faces to the series.

Shikanosuke Yamanaka (山中鹿之介) - Voiced by Miyu Irino

Shikanosuke Yamanaka (山中鹿之介)
Historically, he was originally born "Yukimori Yamanaka" He served the Amago clan from Izumo (Present day Shimane Prefecture)  He believed himself to be the child of the moon and often decorated himself in moon memorabilia. He was executed by Motonari Mori's army after failing to take back Gassan castle.

Yamanaka and his flail. His deer theme is a pun off his first name which has the character for deer in it.

In Sengoku BASARA 4 he fights with a Renketsu konbou. A type of Japanese flail. However, he fights along side his deer companion named "Oyassan"

Oyassan and Yamanaka double team a white tiger.
Yamanka and Oyassan are searching for their missing lord, Haruhisa Amago (Sengoku BASARA 3 & UTAGE) Who has gone in hiding after losing his castle to the Mori clan.

Where for art thou, Amago-sama?

Yamanaka's attacks are close range. His flail which can be swung around, has "standard" range. The same as most swords. His attacks differ when Oyassan joins in. Much like Matsu (SB 1,2, 2H,Utage) Yamanaka can ride while attacking. (Matsu rides a bear) While they fight together, sometimes Yamanaka finds himself in an awkward position as Oyassan's weapon.

Oyassan's weapon is called "Shikanosuke Yamanaka"
Shikanosuke Yamanaka is voiced by Miyu Irino. Irino has voiced such characters as "Sora" and "Vanitas" from "Kingdom Hearts", "Saji Crossroads" from "Mobile Suit Gundam 00", "Akito Hyuga" from "Code Geass: Akito the Exiled" and "Syaoran" from "Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle"

During his "BASARA" attack, Oyassan bears battle armor while charging enemies.
Joining the roster are two faces from previous games.

Hideyoshi Toyotomi - Voiced by Ryotaro Okiayu

Originally appearing in Sengoku BASARA 2, Toyotomi who was once a follower of Nobunaga Oda, had become a traveling companion of Keiji Maeda. After an incident involving Hisahide Matsunaga, He had become cold and wished to unite the country by force. He commanded the armies of Mitsunari Ishida and Ieyasu Tokugawa, both of which he had trained. He died at Tokugawa's hands while the fiercely loyal Ishida vowed revenge for his death setting in motion the battle of "Sekigahara" which decided the unification and leader of Japan. (Sengoku BASARA 3/ Samurai Heroes) Toyotomi only appeared in Sengoku BASARA 3 as a non speaking character in a flash back cut scene for various characters.

The first scene in the Sengoku BASARA universe where Toyotomi and Ishida are together
Toyotomi is a brawler type character. Having no weapon, he fights using his fists and smashing techniques. He punches, smashes, throws and suplexes his opponents. His element is fire. Fire elemental characters can cause burn damage which continues to injure the enemy (or player) after being hit.

The might of the Toyotomi army.
Hideyoshi Toyotomi is voiced by "Ryotaro Okiayu". Okiayu is famous for his roles as "Treize Khushrenada" from "New Mobile Report Gundam Wing", "Byakuya Kuchiki" from "Bleach", "Alucard" from the "Castlevania" Series, "Zero" from "Mega Man X" and "Katsuhiko Jinnai" from "El-Hazard"

Toyotomi drags his foe before throwing him into a group of warriors.

Returning character number 2 - Takenaka Hanbei - voiced by Akira Ishida

Like Hideyoshi Toyotomi, Hanbei was introduced in Sengoku BASARA 2. He was also playable in 2 Heroes. Hanbei is Toyotomi's right hand man. He is a brilliant strategist who suffers from "illness" (Believed to be Tuberculosis) Stating that he doesn't have much time left, he sets his sights on recruiting Kojuro Katakura from Date clan. (Going as far to kidnapping him in the anime version) He is aware that his death is approaching and laments that he won't get to see Toyotomi rise to power. He presumably dies from disease shortly before Tokugawa defeats Toyotomi. He appeared in a cut scene in Sengoku BASARA 3. He was only in a back shot. (Saica, Keiji, Kotaro, and Masamune opening cut scene)

Hanbei's sword whip.
Hanbei fights with a jointed sword. It dislodges from its sword form and becomes a whip like weapon. The player can whip it around and pull off mid ranged to long ranged attacks. His element is "darkness" Darkness elemental characters can siphon life from other characters (or have it siphoned from them) after being hit.

Hanbei's attacks also include speed and multi-hit attacks.
Hanbei is voiced by "Akira Ishida" Known for his roles as "Kaworu Nagisa" from "Neon Genesis Evangalion" "Makoto Yuuki" (AKA: The player) in "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3" "Gaara" from "Naruto", "Katsura Kotarou" from "Gintama" and "Athrun Zala" from "Gundam SEED"

Hanbei commands the Toyotomi army into action.
On July 18th, Capcom released a trailer for Sengoku BASARA 4. The trailer showed the new characters Katsuie Shibata, Sakon Shima, and Yoshiteru Ashikaga. Along with Masamune Date and Mitsunari Ishida, the new characters show off their moves. The trailer shows glimpses of new features to the series. Stacked enemies and pair "BASARA" attacks. To those unfamilar with the series, A BASARA attack is a "special" or a "super" attack the player can execute after they fill a BASARA gauge. The gauge fills by attacking and by taking damage.

New BASARA attacks
The end of the trailer includes a conversation on black a black screne between "Bontenmaru" and an mysterious man. Bontenmaru was the childhood name of Masamune Date. Masamune asks of the person talking to him "So you are Katakura?" This conversation is between a somewhat younger Masamune and Kojuro Katakura. It is presumably the first time the two met.
